Derrick's Story
From Lansing to Leadership: Derrick’s Journey
Derrick Allen, founder of the Alan Pacific Foundation, grew up in Lansing, Michigan, where he spent countless hours at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. The sense of belonging and stability he found there had a lasting impact, instilling values of community and growth. After working as a Junior Games Room Director, Derrick earned a full golf scholarship to Jackson State University and later pursued a career as a PGA golf teaching professional in Los Angeles.
Over his three decades as a teaching golf pro, Derrick has worked with over a thousand students, including celebrities like Bill Clinton, Morgan Freeman, and Steve Harvey. As director of the Rancho Park Golf Academy, Derrick has also coached junior golfers to top rankings and scholarships, including one student now competing on the LPGA’s Futures Tour. His experience drives his passion for giving back to the next generation through the Foundation.
